Fellow Homebrewers,
Local News Jeremiah from Butler Winery told me last week that they are planning on having their semi-annual sale within the next few weeks. To keep posted you can email Amy and request to be added to their email list. Also, I was made aware that Butler will now be charging a 10 cent per pound milling fee for use of their mill. So be prepared to spend an extra buck or two for your next all-grain batch.
Upland is having their Maifest this coming Saturday. They are starting at 11:30 in the morning and will have their maibock on tap, a special menu, and live bands playing all day. If the weather cooperates they will also have outdoor music and seating. I think a couple of us will be there around noon, feel free to join us.
Kegerator Party The new kegerator has been thoroughly tested and got a big thumbs up from everyone. If you missed the meeting on Thursday, Dunn posted a couple of pics to his blog, you can see it posted under April 22nd at this link. I also plan to post a kegerator walk-through web page to www.hopjockeys.org soon.
Out of all the beers on tap, based on the amount remaining in each keg, the Hop Jockey IPA on nitrogen was the most drank homebrew. I was going to tweak that recipe but now I’m thinking I should leave it alone.
New List Server Dave Brodin has set up a new list server for us to correspond on. The forum was nice, but we all decided that it would be easier to have a list server. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, a list server will allow you to subscribe and unsubscribe to the hop jockey member discussions via email. This is an easy way to post questions or news and get feedback quickly because each email is broadcast to every subscriber’s email address. Click on this link to subscribe. You can unsubscribe anytime you would like. To post a message to the list just email hopjockeys@hopjockeys.org. Thanks Dave for setting that up for us.
May Schedule May is summer beer month. We’re leaving this one wide open; we’re looking to brew refreshing summer lagers or ales that will be ready by Mid to late June.
May 7th is National Homebrew Day. More Info. May 12th is the next meeting which will be hosted by Dave Goff. I’ll forward directions the week of the meeting. May 14th or May 21st is the Indy Trip. Date and details will be discussed and finalized at the next meeting. May 27th Meeting will be hosted by Dave Brodin.
Brewing Equipment Build Day Kris Walker will be hosting an equipment build workshop on June 4th. I’ll post directions and details as the day approaches. We’ll probably be making chillers or possibly hop-backs, but we’ll most likely be discussing who wants to build what on the list server. If more than a handful of people want to build the same thing, we can buy parts in bulk and fabricate in an assembly line fashion. If you’re interested in building equipment be sure to subscribe to the list server.
Cheers,
Ryan. |
